The Heathcote Dental Practice

43 Great King St, Macclesfield SK11 6PN, UK – 01625 425838

After developing a painful tooth over the weekend, I desperately needed a solid opinion on what to do with it. I have not visited a dentist for 4 years but they managed to somehow squeeze me in to what seemed to be an already busy schedule the very next day because of my pain. Emails were responded to quickly and the reception staff had time to give me some brief advice even though I visited right at closing time. I had an appointment with Richard Heathcote who logically problem solved his way to the heart of the issue due to my pain being very misleading and counter-intuitive. Once the problem was identified, I was given the options and consequences clearly and lots of help making my decision on the next steps. All the complex X-Rays and other technical jargon was broken down into simple terms that even a child could understand and we went into lots of detail and analysis. All the worst-case scenarios were covered and safety protocols followed exactly. In the end, unfortunately I had to lose a tooth but was fully educated throughout and involved in the journey to the conclusion, which was customer service straight out of a textbook. I had some emotional attachment to keeping the tooth but the overwhelming case presented to me helped me look at the hard facts and chose the right path for the greater good of my mouth. The tooth was examined briefly to show me what exactly had happened and all questions answered. The appointment overran a little but I wasn't rushed out and dizziness was treated properly before I was allowed to leave for my own safety. Finally, after the treatment, all the necessary recovery advice was explained clearly and printed out for me. On a personal level, everyone was professional, friendly & genuine. From start to finish, there really isn't anything I could improve or fault. I was fortunate enough to get NHS treatment but was willing to pay almost any price to get a simple appointment. Upon contacting two other recommended practices in a panic, I was treated like a nuisance & found them to be very dismissive and unsympathetic with no advice phone-lines given or guidelines on how to solve the problem or where else to go. Other practices in the area could learn a lot from how Heathcote operate.

Silk Dental Care

30 Chester Rd, Macclesfield SK11 8DG, UK – 01625 424808

From my experience, having been a patient (is that the right word?) at Silk Dental Care for about 16 years or more, I'd say they're a really good practice. And wouldn't hesitate to recommend them. Pleasant reception staff, good dentists and a pretty nicely decorated building too.

I attended Silk Dental after it was recommended to me by a friend My teeth weren't in great condition, I was very nervous of the dentist and a little ashamed of my teeth. Lawrence, the dentist I saw, has been brilliant, professional yet has put me at complete ease. I cant recommend Silk Dental Care enough

Cumberland House Surgery

Waters Green Medical Centre, Sunderland St, Macclesfield SK11 6JL, UK – 01625 428081

Common theme. Doctors are extremely good at what they do, however takes too long for anyone to answer the phone sometimes get no answer at all. There is an online booking option, but if you don't have access to the internet this isn't helpful.

Friendly reassuring staff/doctors, I was seen quickly and was able to get my bloods taken the next day at the drop in clinic and I was in and out within 10 minutes. I am very squeamish but the two women who were there were lovley and made it easier.

South Park Surgery

Waters Green Medical Centre, Sunderland St, Macclesfield SK11 6JL, Macclesfield SK11 6JF, UK – 01625 422249

My real name is Cheryl-Anne Jenkinson, in case the surgery wishes to see that I am a real patient! I cannot speak too highly of this practice, so much so, that I had to look up whether it was possible to leave a review. Prior to coming to South Park Surgery, I used to visit a Congleton one where staff excelled in making the patients feel uncomfortable, and where booking in was an anxious time because of the 'grilling' on the phone! Conversely, the South Park staff and doctors are always friendly, extremely helpful and well-informed, and expedient in everything. The booking system works a treat, and I have rarely had to even wait more than a few days. I was asked if I needed an emergency visit last time I booked in, but I chose a standard one. The triage service for emergencies--thankfully, used only once for myself--is outstanding, and a doctor calls very quickly to discuss and triage the problem. I have never felt 'channelled' through in a short time, even though the practice clearly has (and meets) its targets like any other. Every doctor ensures the patient feels heard and that all the issues are addressed. There's no evident clock-gazing during a consultation, and all examinations have been thorough. The doctors could not be any better; no matter which one I see, they are all just as engaged and interested, and they chat through their conclusions and recommendations instead of just pushing the patient back out. I always feel that the doctors are my ally--they are truly looking our for their patients. There's never been any of that condescending air I have experienced previously in other practices; and no lingo that could confuse people. I no longer have to dread making a GP visit, and I hear only positive from other patients too--especially the very elderly and frail. Once, I chatted to a 101-year-old gent in the waiting room. He said he loved his doctors' visits! There's no interrogation by the receptionists, just friendly and fast good service, and recently, this practice even fitted in my partner when he was home on leave, as an emergency, temporary patient. South Park Surgery really deserves the highest star rating for its consistent good care and for the upbeat, pleasant and professional nature of every doctor, in particular. They are all as excellent as each other; I really wonder how they managed to get so many great GPs under one roof! The one thing I would add, however, is that I am sure people are treated especially well if they treat the practice staff well in return. I see some abysmal behaviour whenever I visit; patients who demand to be seen 'now', crabby complainers who won't wait past the allotted time, phone call hanger-onners who won't clear the line for other patients... and so on. I latterly heard one lady complaining about waiting ten minutes past her appointment time. The thing is, if you want great service and want every patient to be heard and understood, there will be times when a consultation runs over... but I find the appointments run very smoothly and cannot remember a wait. I just don't mind, though, if there were to be one; it probably would mean some elderly person needed extra time, and I'd rather they got it! I also see lots of people who seem to be in there for coughs and colds. Come on...really? Especially wonderful in my view--for their manner with patients and a fantastically cheery yet professional nature--are doctors Jamie Butler and Mark Lumb, They are always phenomenal. I did see other outstanding GPs here, too, but looking at the practice team list, they seem to have moved on. Oh, and while I am giving this accolade--let's not forget that there is a blood clinic on site, so no traipsing to the General Hospital to have bloods taken, and there's a fabulous multi-story carpark, plus three pharmacies in the vicinity. Apart from a coffee machine, what more could we want?? Well done, South Park Surgery. You are excellent!

Friendly staff and excellent doctors. A very good surgery all round. I would recommend it.

Spire Regency Hospital

West St, Macclesfield SK11 8DW, UK – 01625 501150

I was admitted on the 18/09/17 as a day patient. Everyone from the receptionist, nurses and doctors etc were wonderful. They kept me informed and looked after me really well. I dont know why but as an NHS patient I thought I would be treated different but I was wrong. Its a lovely hospital, very clean and friendly staff. I cannot praise it high enough. Thank you to everyone involved in my days stay.

Macclesfield District General Hospital

Victoria Rd, Macclesfield SK10 3BL, UK – 01625 421000

Why five stars? Well the NHS service is luck of the draw, if it is not busy, it is very good. You have to be ready to wait if you are not a referral. The Five Stars are for service and care. The A&E staff were fantastic, they were calm, caring and kept us up to date every step of the way. The ward that was needed was full, so was moved to a general ward until a bed was available. The staff again were charming and match those in A&E. The hospital itself is on two floors, clean & it is a fairly modern building. There is no private entertainment supplied, but free WiFi if you need it. There is a general store for snacks, books, magazines, gifts & drinks. A small cafe & an ATM. They have a free to call Taxi service & it is about £5 to the Train Station. It is also serviced by a bus route. There are grounds to relax in if you are visiting. Macmillan have a suite here if you are dealing with cancer & lots of volunteers here do a marvellous job making a tough time easier. So yes there were long waits due to it being busy, but the care, skill and charm of the staff are second to none

The last 4 days have been the scariest most traumatic days of my adult life and I can't thank the staff at Macclesfield hospital enough! I started in a&e in the primary care department and worked my way through 3 wards. Each move and and step to my recovery I noticed how amazing the staff are and how much they did more than their job to help every patient in their care. I was pretty much alone at the time of my hospital stay as its far away from my family and with me being young and emotional the staff supported me so much. Thankyou for helping me recover and thankyou for every staff member for doing such an amazing job and always going that extra mile!

Happy with the phone and delivery. "Good" condition meant a heavily used chassis, brand new screen and a battery showing 95% usable life remaining. Along with a years warranty, I don't think that's bad for half the price of a new one!

I bought a samsung a3 for my son it came the day they said it would it was excellent condition. The ony thing was they sent a univeral usb cable with it and it didn't fit but his dad had a spair lead. Thank you

Give and get free stuff. Here you will find lots of items that people are willing to give away, for FREE! This is instead of taking them to a local landfill site. The aim of this site is to reduce the amount of waste that goes to landfill (20.9 million tonnes of it last year in the UK) and recycling is great news for the environment.
We all know that we need to recycle more - and this is a great way of doing it.

Fast and friendly service. Decent food. Reasonably priced.

83 Mill St, Macclesfield SK11 6NN, UK – 01625 511105

First time in Macclesfield and came upon this restaurant when looking for somewhere to eat. Just had the Risotto Rosanero. It was the best Risotto I have ever had. Loved the place and the food and will definitely eat there again next time I'm visiting Macclesfield now that my daughter has just moved here.

A lovely independent restaurant based in the centre of Macclesfield! Me and my boyfriend visited here around a month ago to celebrate his birthday. Apart from it being his birthday it was an extra special occasion as it was the first time we had been out after moving to the area just before Christmas. The staff always make a place and they didn't fail to make it a special evening. The food surpassed expectations and the merlot wine complimented our mains. After we had finished our meal we came into a bit of a pickle due to the bad snow on the evening. Unfortunately no taxis were coming out so we decided to attempt to walk in the snow. I didn't have appropriate footwear on so as soon as I stepped out the door I was slipping and sliding everywhere. I cannot believe what happened next and I'm still really overwhelmed by the generosity...A lovely waitress at the restaurant offered to give us a lift home! If it wasn't for her I honestly don't know what we would have done. I tried to offer some money to say thanks but she wouldn't take a penny. Unfortunately we never got her name but would like to say a massive thank you and we will definitely back to Rosanero :) xxx

Jin's Oriental Restaurant

101-103 Chestergate, Macclesfield SK11 6DP, UK – 01625 503001

Fantastic food and service. Been here a few times with family and left very happy every time. The food portions are very good and the taste of each dish is amazing. This is one Chinese that actually get the chicken crispy for the sweet and sour. Would definitely recommend for a night out.

I’m Malaysian Chinese and I must say they serve authentic Chinese dishes with superb level of service. Not many Chinese restaurants in Europe or UK can remain such authenticity. The restaurant are very receptive to feedback and offer sincere apologies. I hope they maintain this high level of customer centric attitude. This is a highly recommended dining place.

Nursery and Preschools

Prestbury Pre-School & Day Nursery

Alderley Rd, Prestbury, Macclesfield SK10 4RH, UK – 01625 827500

I would definitely recommend Prestbury Nursery. My son has attended since 7 months old and is now 2yrs 3mths. The staff care so much about each child. They show love, professionalism and have fun on a daily basis. I’ve never once had that gut-wrenching feeling when I’ve left him. He has come on leaps and bounds and learns something new every day. He looks forward to Nursery and I have trouble getting him to leave at the end of his session. I really would be lost without the staff and their expertise guiding me through stages, always with a smile and reassurance. The nursery always celebrates occasions, one recently being The Queens birthday. All the children were involved in making the cakes and the families were invited. A lovely sunny day on the field with bunting, afternoon tea and some very lucky, happy children. Thank you to you all.

My daughter attended prestbury day nursery, and she (and myself) absoloutley loved it! She settled in immediately and adored her key person. I would recommend the nursery to anyone wanting a safe, happy place for their child to attend .

Public & Preparatory Schools

Beech Hall School

Macclesfield SK10 2EG, UK – 01625 422192

Beech Hall has restored my faith in education. I am so impressed by the standard of teaching ( my son went up 5 reading levels in the first term and both my children have become excited by maths). The small class sizes really help this ( my son has 6 in his class and my daughter has 10). They also have amazing pastoral care. They go far beyond preventing bullying by promoting a culture of empathy, kindness and respect to others. The headteacher knows every child well, frequently eating his lunch with different groups of children. Overall this is a fantastic school.
