I was admitted on the 18/09/17 as a day patient. Everyone from the receptionist, nurses and doctors etc were wonderful. They kept me informed and looked after me really well. I dont know why but as an NHS patient I thought I would be treated different but I was wrong. Its a lovely hospital, very clean and friendly staff. I cannot praise it high enough. Thank you to everyone involved in my days stay.

Macclesfield District General Hospital

Victoria Rd, Macclesfield SK10 3BL, UK – 01625 421000

Why five stars? Well the NHS service is luck of the draw, if it is not busy, it is very good. You have to be ready to wait if you are not a referral. The Five Stars are for service and care. The A&E staff were fantastic, they were calm, caring and kept us up to date every step of the way. The ward that was needed was full, so was moved to a general ward until a bed was available. The staff again were charming and match those in A&E. The hospital itself is on two floors, clean & it is a fairly modern building. There is no private entertainment supplied, but free WiFi if you need it. There is a general store for snacks, books, magazines, gifts & drinks. A small cafe & an ATM. They have a free to call Taxi service & it is about £5 to the Train Station. It is also serviced by a bus route. There are grounds to relax in if you are visiting. Macmillan have a suite here if you are dealing with cancer & lots of volunteers here do a marvellous job making a tough time easier. So yes there were long waits due to it being busy, but the care, skill and charm of the staff are second to none

The last 4 days have been the scariest most traumatic days of my adult life and I can't thank the staff at Macclesfield hospital enough! I started in a&e in the primary care department and worked my way through 3 wards. Each move and and step to my recovery I noticed how amazing the staff are and how much they did more than their job to help every patient in their care. I was pretty much alone at the time of my hospital stay as its far away from my family and with me being young and emotional the staff supported me so much. Thankyou for helping me recover and thankyou for every staff member for doing such an amazing job and always going that extra mile!

Local hospitals - community hospitals and hospitals with A&E departments for SK11 9HF.

The new NHS website below is very well worth a look. Hospitals are not only listed but evaluated. I certainly know which ones I would go to! At the very least you will know what questions to ask if you are sent to one which has not entered its data. Good luck!
