Cinemas around Marton

Cinemac

Heritage Centre, Roe St, Macclesfield SK11 6UT, UK – 07871 422937

Used Cinemac for the first time and it was a pleasant surprise. You can book tickets in advance or pay on the door. Prices very reasonable. Car parking two minutes away. Seats were comfortable and clean and plenty of leg room. Staff really pleasant. Refreshments available and a small bar where you can take your drink back to your seat. Lift available if you need it as lots of stairs and the last part is steep. Toilets could do with an upgrade but generally clean and tidy.

It's a small make-shift local cinema. Screen and sound are good but the venue looks like a place for stage performances and not the typical cinema look. There is just one screen. Overall, not bad for a small town. At least, it saves the stress of going all the way to Manchester to see a movie.

Theatres for Marton

MADS Theatre

Lord St, Macclesfield SK11 6SY, UK – 01625 611974

Had a lovely evening at our son's art exhibition and singing. Try and go over this weekend, if you can. Last few days of the Barnby, in Macclesfield.

A Small theatre the last true theatre left in Macclesfield with seating for around 200 people. Being small there's a great view of the stage with good acoustic. There's a small bar and a dedicated team of volunteers and amateur dramatics. I've seen several plays all put onto a very good standard.

Gawsworth Hall

Church Ln, Gawsworth, Macclesfield SK11 9RN, UK – 01260 223456

What a fantastic place for an outdoor gig in the summer time especially in the evening. Richard Thompson was his standard brilliant best in a gorgeous setting, green and fresh after an late afternoon shower which had the beautiful gardens dazzling in the evening sun. Really friendly staff, high class facilities and to top it all off, a flying display with very serious aerobatics from the local bats as we drove away from the very well drilled car parking. A superb evening in every aspect. A place once discovered, you will return to. Highly recommended.

This was a great venue for a family get together. We spent the afternoon relaxing and having a picnic. Then we had a tour of the beautiful historical Tudor House before settling in to the "ABBA" concert in the grounds. It was a thoroughly enjoyable fun-filled evening spent dancing and singing along. Thanks everyone 😊

Macclesfield District General Hospital

Victoria Rd, Macclesfield SK10 3BL, UK – 01625 421000

Why five stars? Well the NHS service is luck of the draw, if it is not busy, it is very good. You have to be ready to wait if you are not a referral. The Five Stars are for service and care. The A&E staff were fantastic, they were calm, caring and kept us up to date every step of the way. The ward that was needed was full, so was moved to a general ward until a bed was available. The staff again were charming and match those in A&E. The hospital itself is on two floors, clean & it is a fairly modern building. There is no private entertainment supplied, but free WiFi if you need it. There is a general store for snacks, books, magazines, gifts & drinks. A small cafe & an ATM. They have a free to call Taxi service & it is about £5 to the Train Station. It is also serviced by a bus route. There are grounds to relax in if you are visiting. Macmillan have a suite here if you are dealing with cancer & lots of volunteers here do a marvellous job making a tough time easier. So yes there were long waits due to it being busy, but the care, skill and charm of the staff are second to none

If I could give this hospital 10 stars I would, all the staff were excellent, from the moment I went in to A&E and 5 days later when I came home. Everyone was always helpful, the food was actually very good, with a good choice on the menu, I did not use the carpark myself, but I believe it can get busy. if visiting it might be worth going a little early to get on the carpark.
